$1,500 per academic year for up to 2 years


The LANL Foundation seeks applicants for the Career Pathways Scholarship. A Career Pathways Scholar is focused and determined, with a clear vision of the career or trade they intend to pursue. These scholars are highly motivated to gain the skills and credentials needed to enter the workforce in their career of choice, with the primary goal of improving quality of life for themselves, their family and their community. This scholarship supports high school seniors and those with a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency (HSE) in pursuit of a 2-year degree, trade or certificate.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • This scholarship is ONLY for students currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in a two-year degree program or certificate program. Students should apply the semester before they would like to receive funding. Most high school students should apply in the spring of their senior year.
  • Must be a resident of the seven-county area of Northern New Mexico (Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe, and Taos)
  • Must have received a high school diploma or GED, or:
  • be near completion of a GED/HSE program
  • be a high school senior currently enrolled in your final semester of high school.
  • Preference may also be given to students pursuing programs related to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related vocations, although strong applications in any program area will be considered.

Available Scholarships:

Career Pathways Scholarships are $1,500 awards for one academic year. Those continuing to pursue a two-year associate’s degree or certificate may be eligible to renew their scholarship for a total of up to $3,000 for two years. Renewal is dependent upon remaining in good academic standing and making progress toward completion.

A complete application includes:

  • Official high school transcript (High School Seniors only)
  • College transcript (for those with any amount of college experience)
  • Essays   
  • Annual Household Income (Not required, but strongly encouraged for financial need question)
